Peter Kemsley Hallas was born at Streatham, London on 16 July 1918 and worked at Lloyds of London as a Clerk under Sir Eustace Pulbrooks from 1937-39, noted as speaking a little French and Urdu. With the Second World War looming he joined the ranks of the Westminster Dragoons on 14 March 1939 but was quickly sent forward for Officer training. He was commissioned 2nd Lieutenant on 18 May 1940 and was posted overseas with the 6th Duke of Connaught's Own Lancers (Watson's Horse), Indian Army from 26 October 1940. He was advanced Lieutenant on 18 November 1941 and Captain on 26 August 1944. He remained in the Territorial Army and was made Major in June 1955.

Married in September 1947 at Haywards Heath, he was living at Grassmere, Mid Street, South Nutfield, Surrey and returned to Lloyds. He died in August 1992; sold together with copied Service Record and other research.
