Three: Able Seaman J. J. Seymour, Royal Navy, who served aboard H.M.S. Cordelia at the Battle of Jutland

John James Seymour was born on 14 March 1898 at Paddington, London and enlisted at H.M.S. Powerful on 3 February 1915 as Boy Class II. His first posting afloat was H.M.S. Cordelia with 1st Light Cruiser Squadron and it was with this ship he achieved his majority being appointed Ordinary Seaman on 29 March 1916.

This formation took part in the Battle of Jutland on 31 May 1916, while Cordelia was not heavily engaged she did exchange fire with the Light Cruiser Elbing. In the course of the battle she fired around a dozen rounds from her 6 inch guns.

After the Battle Seymour continued with Cordelia, being promoted Able Seaman on 1 July 1917, he was finally posted ashore to Pembroke I on 10 March 1919; sold together with copied service papers.
