(x) East and West Africa 1887-1900, 1 clasp, Liwondi 1893 (A. Campbell, A.B., H.M.S. Mosquito.), a slightly later officially-impressed issue, nevertheless good very fine and rare

16 Medals with this Clasp awarded to the gunboat Mosquito; of these, 7 were named to Able Seamen.

A. Campbell is confirmed on the Roll with entitlement to this Medal and Clasp, which was sent to him in 1895 aboard the ironclad battleship H.M.S. Inflexible.

Awarded to Royal Navy personnel only for an expedition along the Upper Shire River (in modern-day Malawi), the objective being to punish the Yao Chief Liwondi for recent slave-raids in and around that location.
