U.S.A: Roosevelt Oil Company, $1 shares, 190[6], #1782, vignette of derrick in hills, Roosevelt portrait to right, ornate border, green and black. Formed to drill in INyo County, California in 1901 appeared to have some success in the first few years. In 1908 the President and the FBI were trying to locate the company calling it a fake and for illegal stock selling and the unauthorised use of the Roosevelt name. The President forced the change of name and the discontinued use of his portrait in 1909. It was to become the Haiwee Pacific Oil Company which was later barred for mail fraud. VF.
