Great Britain: Strand Music Hall Company Limited, one share of £10, 1862, #428, vignette of company seal at top, black. The Music Hall was opened in 1864 to seat 2000 people but within a few years had to close. Maybe it was ahead of its time by banning smoking and drinking in its main hall and encouraging the use of adjacent saloons. The Gaiety theatre was erected on the site and opened in 1868. This building was closed in 1939, the interior stripped and sold at auction and then the building was bombed during WWII. EF.
