Sikh Rulers of Patiala, Narinda Singh (VS 1902-19; 1845-62), gold Mohur, 10.7g, Patiala, VS 1902 (1845), struck in the name of the Durrani ruler Ahmad Shah Abdali, a couple of tiny edge marks, good extremely fine with all details clear, an exceptional coin

All the Mohurs of all Cis Sutlej states are rare. Mohurs of Narinda Singh are particularly rare. The full year on the reverse increases its rarity and desirability.

Narinda Singh was the son of Karam Singh and also helped the British with supplies and transport during the first Anglo-Sikh war. He was rewarded with additional estates, especially in Nabha. After the annexation of the Sikh state of Lahore to the British in 1849 he was regarded as a spokesman for the Sikh community, and again supported them in the uprising of 1857.
Among other honours, he was awarded the Star of India in 1861, and made a member of the Viceroy's legislative Council in 1862.
