British Empire Exhibition, Torchlight Tattoo, 1925, AE Medal, by H. Oakes-Jones, .WEMBLEY TORCHLIGHT TATTOO 1925., the 'Wembley Lion', HEAVEN DOTH WITH US AS WE WITH TORCHES DO, NOT LIGHT THEM FOR THEMSELVES in exergue in four lines, rev. St George standing, facing, upon a globe. A cross, radiate, decorated with shields of the three armed services, 38mm, 29.05g (Eimer 1998; BHM 4206); additionally, General Strike, 1926, AE Service Medal, by E. Gillick, helmeted figure of Britannia seated, hand resting on shield, holds out a laurel; in field, winged emblem of the London, Midland and Scotish Railway Company, between a rose and thistle, FOR SERVICE IN NATIONAL EMERGENCY MAY 1926, rev. an allegory of three draped figures, standing, with their backs to each other; two locomotives resting upon their outstreched hands, LARGITAS MVNERIS SALVS REIPVBLICAE, 51mm (Eimer 2003; BHM 4210), both lightly wiped, otherwise about extremely fine (2)

The second medal was struck by the Royal Mint and presented to those who had given service on behalf of the London, Midland and Scottish Railway Company, whose initials are formed by those of the inscription on the reverse side. The medals were presented unnamed, in a case, accompanied by a letter of thanks.
