James II (1685-1688), Guinea, 1686, second laureate head left, flared nostrils, rev. no stop after HIB 'B over I', crowned shields cruciform, emblem-adorned sceptres in angles, five strings to harp, edge obliquely milled, 8.37g, 7h (Farey 280; EGC 325 ~ probably a re-entered B; MCE 126; Spink 3402), traces of adjustment to rim and the semblance of past non-invasive ring mounting on account of a square edge profile and possible retouching to milling, with a small scuff behind ties, otherwise a handsomely balanced coin, lustrous with faint traces of surface friction, very fine
