George Edward Fenwick was born on 24 November 1885 at Glanville, South Australia the son of William Edward and Annie Fenwick. He was working as a Fireman in 1915 and as a Fish Monger in 1917, before going to sea likely in 1918. As his name does not appear on the Merchant Navy records he probably served with in either Australian coastal vessels or fishing vessels. Fenwick survived the war and died in Albert Park, Victoria on 28 December 1972; sold together with a copied MIC, research notes and a list of the qualifications for the award of the Mercantile Marine War Medal.
