Joseph Nixon started the war serving with 13th Battalion, Gloucestershire Regiment, the 'Forest of Dean Pioneers' raised on Christmas 1914. Nixon then transferred to 10th Battalion and finally 1/6th Battalion meaning he likely ended the war in Italy.
