Richard John Enys Sincock was born in 1875 at St Agnes, Cornwall and joined the Royal Dublin Fusiliers on 6 April 1898, having already served with the British South Africa Police in Mashonaland (Medal) the previous year. His Service Records note a scar from a bullet wound through his left hand. Having purchased his discharge, he joined the Coldstream Guards and served with them in South Africa during the Boer War from 23 May 1900-6 October 1902. During the Great War he served with the India Defence Force as a Lance-Corporal (BWM only). In India he was working as an Assistant at Shalimar Paint, Colour and Varnish Co. Ltd., Goabariah, Howrah. He died in Surrey in 1935.
