William Sexton was born on 23 August 1885 in Manchester and served during the Boer War and thence in France with the 2nd Battalion, Royal Irish Rifles from 14 August 1914. He was taken Prisoner of War on 26 August 1914 (1914 Star Trio) when the Battalion was decimated.
