Queen’s South Africa 1899-1902, 5 clasps, Cape Colony, Orange Free State, Transvaal, South Africa 1901, South Africa 1902 (22053 Gnr. E. Pitchford, Pom-Poms R.A.), edge bruising, good very fine

Ernest Pitchford was a native of Seabridge, Newcastle, Staffordshire. Transferred to the 13th Hussars on 10 September 1902, Pitchford re-enlisted on 8 February 1915, after being released from the Shelton Iron & Coal Company Ltd. He served as a Private in the Reserve Regiment of Cavalry, before being transferred to the Military Foot Police. He served at Gallipoli from 15 May 1915 and was discharged on 13 February 1919, also being awarded a Silver War Badge, due epileptic fits, to go with a 1914-15 Star Trio.
