Queen's South Africa 1899-1902, 2 clasps, Orange Free State, Laing's Nek (371 Tpr: P. A. N. Starling, Natal M.R.), good very fine

Percy Alfred Nainby Starling was born at Salfron Waldon in 1869 and was recruited to the Natal Mounted Rifles after the Siege of Ladysmith. He was a sugar farmer and is listed as Managing Herrwood House and the farm, clearly a hard taskmaster, especially to his Indian labourers. He died in a Sanatorium in Durban on 30 November 1936. Some details were raised during the Heritage Report into the building of the uShukela Highway in 2013.
