Medals from the collection of Meurig Jones related to the Second Anglo-Boer War, 1899-1902

Introduction

Meurig purchased his first Queen's South Africa Medal in 1984 and in the subsequent 37 years he has researched the war extensively. In 1999, together with his father, Huw Jones, they published A Gazetteer of the Second Anglo-Boer War 1899-1902 (Military Press, Milton Keynes 1999). Meurig re-wrote the casualty roll adding thousands of new records and making many corrections. For this work he was awarded a Gold Medal at the OMRS Convention in 2017. His work on British Empire participants is published on www.boerwarregister.com
