Percy Walter Kensall was born on 1 October 1883 at Halstead, Essex. He enlisted with the Essex Regiment on 11 October 1914 and joined the war in France on 25 July 1915. Transferring to the Northamptonshire Regiment on 16 March 1917 he was discharged on 30 January 1918 with a note: 'no longer physically fit'. Upon rejoining the army on 5 July 1921 he served with 4th Battalion, Suffolk Regiment until 1 October 1928; sold together with copied M.I.C.
