Albert Butler Heukensfeldt Clayton-Smith was born on 5 September 1881 at Birkdale, Lancashire. He served in France with the 1st/5th Battalion, King's Own Yorkshire Light Infantry from 21 June 1915 alongside his brother. Clayton-Smith was killed in action on 19 December and is buried in the Bard Cottage Cemetery, Belgium. These Medals were claimed by his father, living in Pontefract.
