Wilfred Ernest Emery was born at Forest Gate, London on 19 April 1897, the son of John Woodley Gosling and Elizabeth Smith Emery. Enlisting at Stratford on 20 November 1916, Emery served in France from 29 March 1917. Serving there with a number of formations including 13th Reserve Brigade, 255th Brigade and 48th Brigade until 1 April 1919, he was posted to Germany on 2 April 1919 eturning to Britain on 9 November 1919. Transferred to the Reserve on 12 December 1919, Emery died at Great Cliff Rest Home, Dawlish, Devon on 10 December 1983; sold together with copied research including service records, M.I.C. and original certificate of discharge as well as Overseas stripes and note of issue.
