Africa General Service 1902-56, E.VII.R., 1 clasp, Somaliland 1908-10 (271224 W. J. Germon. E.R.A. 3Cl, H.M.S. Proserpine.), contact marks, suspension chipped, very fine

William John Germon was born at Devonport, Devon on 24 April 1882. Enlisted on 7 September 1903 and served aboard HMS Empress of India from 11 November 1903-13 January 1904 with the rank of Acting Engine Room Artificer Class IV. Promoted Engine Room Artificer Class III while serving aboard HMS Blake from 1 July 1906-9 October 1906. Germon served with HMS Proserpine from 10 March-21 September 1907; during this period she was part of the East Indies Squadron but served detached on operations in the Somalian Coast. Germon continued to serve with the Navy upon leaving Proserpine, being promoted Engine Room Artificer Class II aboard HMS Thistle on 6 September 1910 while this vessel was serving in on the China Station. He was released from service on 30 November 1930.
