A rare Greek Royal Family Order of St. George and St. Constantine
Greece, Kingdom, Royal Family Order of St. George and St. Constantine, Civil Division, Grand Cross with Collar set of Insignia, by Spink and Son, London, comprising Collar Chain, 680mm, gilt, silver-gilt and enamel, comprising sixteen medallions in alternate crowned lions rampant adorned with three hearts, and crowned monograms, the monograms alternatively 'G' and 'K', with two central double headed eagle links; Badge Appendant, crowned Leopold Cross patte with elongated lower arm, 75mm x 46mm, silver-gilt and enamel, portrait of St. George and St. Constantine at centre; breast Star, formed by a Cross similar to the Badge Appendant, 73mm x 56mm, silver-gilt and enamel, central medallion surrounded by the motto 'The People's Love is My Strength', maker's cartouche on reverse, extremely fine, in its fitted case of issue (3)

The Royal Family Order of St. George and St. Constantine was instituted by King George II in 1935, and was awarded primarily to men of Royal blood. The central medallions of both the Badge and Star of the Order bear the likenesses of St. George and St. Constantine, thus linking the Order to the names of King George II's father and grandfather. All the insignia of the Order was manufactured by Spink and Son, London.
