Great Britain
Edward Prince of Wales, Sarawak
c.1924 Two sided autograph letters written from Craven Lodge, Melton Mowbray, signed "Edward P", to "my dear Ranee", Sylvia, Lady Brooke, Ranee of Sarawak (1885 - 1971), married to the last White Rajah.
"Please forgive my not having thanked you for sending me the Rajah's picture sooner - I was delighted to hear of his GCMG and will you please tell him how much I appreciate his wishing me to see him in all his glory!? I've not seen him since 1922 I don't believe. I wonder how you like No 62 Portland Place? I know the house very well…" (it had been the home of the Dudley Ward family. Mrs Freda Dudley Ward was intimately involved with the Prince of Wales at this time).
Craven Lodge was a hunting lodge and the apartments were enlarged in 1923/4 to accommodate the "Craven Lodge Club" that included the Prince of Wales and his brothers, Princes Albert and Henry.
