1859 (21 Sept.) envelope to London bearing 1855-57 1/- green cancelled by large "C" in barred oval, with straight-line "registered letter" in red ink and a fine strike of the rare London Foreign Branch "constantinople/registered" around crown (A&H 1499), the reverse with British Post Office Constantinople despatch c.d.s. and London arrival (30.9). A little soiled in places, a neat cover which clearly shows this rare named registration postmark.
