1865 (9 Oct.) larger envelope to Moscow marked "Registered" in red ink and bears 1865-67 4d. dull vermilion and 6d. lilac (5) tied by Belfast "62" duplex, a neat strike of the boxed "registered at/belfast" (A&H 2265) also a large part strike of the overlapping circle "registered/pd/london" datestamp (A&H 2299) and the standard-type London registered dated oval code "AL" in red; with England per Aachen transit and boxed "recomandirt", the reverse with Moscow arrival c.d.s. (4.10, Julian calendar). An eye-catching cover with some good registration handstamps. Very scarce Russian mail.

This heavy-weight cover pays double 10d. postage, 6d. for British registration and 8d. for Russian registration (double 4d. for weight), making a total of 2/10d.
