1848 (11 Dec.) neat blue envelope to Macclesfield bearing 1841 1d. red-brown (good to large even margins) tied by a superb strike of "775" with manuscript "Registered 6", the reverse with a fine strike of Tarporley despatch c.d.s. in red and Crewe transit (12.12) with a bright red wax seal. A very fine and delightful cover. The registration rate was reduced to six pence on 1 March 1848
