Saigon (Bureau A): 1862 (28 Feb.) envelope to Pierre, France "Voie de Suez" bearing Napoleon 40c. (small to good margins) tied by a fine strike of "CECA" in lozenge with a good strike of "corps exp. chine/bau a" despatch c.d.s. and boxed "PD" in red, the flap with details of the sender in Cochin China and signed by the detachment commander, six French transit c.d.s. including Pierre arrival (19.4). A little soiled and slightly reduced at left. With Roumet handstamp

The Bureau A postmark was used in Saigon from late February 1861 to April 1862, after this the Expeditionary Force was formally absorbed into the Cochin China Force
