'Laplace': 1860 (2 Mar.) envelope to Capt. Kerjegu of the 'Laplace' in Hong Kong bearing imperf. Napoleon 40c. (cut into left side) tied by "511" lozenge with Brest despatch c.d.s. and boxed "PD" in red, three French transit c.d.s. on the reverse; fresh and fine.

On 21st April the Anglo-French navies seized the island of Chusan. Since 'Laplace' had participated in this northerly military action, it is thought that this letter was not delivered to Hong Kong but to Chusan
