1859 (29 Jan.) another envelope from Dr Alex Gibbon (no enclosure) from Canton to Aberdeen with printed "via marseilles" in red, rated "9" in red ink with type 10 Hong Kong boxed "paid" in red and London Paid transit (16.3), the reverse with Hong Kong type 7 c.d.s. (29.1) showing "9" in a smaller fount, and Aberdeen arrival (17.3); there is the usual receiver's notation of contents written on the front which includes, "Admiral Seymour & General Straubenzee went up the river 15 miles to Fat-Shan and no resistance from the Chinese"


A Post Office Notice dated 18 January indicated that a new Post Office was to be established in Canton on 24th January. This is one of the earliest letters sent from the new post office in Canton


1859年1月29日廣州 Dr. Alex Gibbon 寄英國Aberdeen 信函, 上有紅色 "VIA MARSEILLES" 印記. 紅墨手寫遞送費為9d, 並蓋香港紅色框型 "郵資已付" 戳, 3月16日倫敦郵資已付中轉戳, 封背蓋1月29日香港7 型日戳. 戳中年份的"9"字特細. 旁有3月17日Aberdeen 到達戳. 正面有接信人的內容註釋, 其中包括: “西摩海軍上將和斯特勞本澤將軍沿河而上 15 英里到達佛山,沒有遭到中國人的抵抗” 一份日期為 1 月 18 日的郵局通知指出,將於 1 月 24 日在廣州設立一個新的郵局; 此信函是廣州新郵局寄出的最早的信件之一.
