1880 (20 Sept.) double rate envelope ex the Nairne correspondence from Lydenburg to England, marked "Via Kimberley & Cape", bearing 1879 1/- marginal pair from the foot of the sheet tied by "13" in concentric rings and Cape Town transit c.d.s. (5.10), showing light despatch c.d.s. with arrival datestamp (27.10) on reverse. Photo

Note:: The sender of the envelope was Capt. S.H. McLeod Nairne of the 94th Regiment. He fought at Ulundi and against Sekukuni, but was an early casualty of the First Anglo-Boer War and died of his wounds at Bronkhorstspruit on 20 December 1880.
