1877 (13 Oct.) envelope from Pretoria to England, bearing 1877 (Aug.) imperf 6d. blue on rose with variety overprint inverted cancelled by "1" in concentric rings and partly overlapping Cape 6d. tied by "1" in barred oval, showing despatch and Cape Town (23.11) datestamps with red London datestamp (20.12) on reverse. A ffine example of the 1/- rate (6d. internal Transvaal postage and 6d. Cape Colony internal rate and ocean rate, the 4d. charge for transit through the Cape Colony had been discontinued). Photo
