1849 (30 Aug.) entire letter from the Evangelical Alliance British Organisation, London to J.J. Freeman, Secretary to the London Missionary Society, in Cape Town and redirected to him c/o C.U. Stuart, Resident Magistrate in Bloemfontein and marked on reverse "to be left until called for", rated "2/6" and "1/-" and showing Ship Letter London and Paid datestamp over-cancelled by Cape framed "prepaid" handstamp. One of the earliest, if not the earliest, recorded item of mail coming into the newly formed Orange River Sovereignty Photo
