1862 (2 July) double rate envelope from Cape Town to Constantinople, marked "par London & Marseille", bearing 1855 4d. blue (touched at bottom right) and 1/- bright yellow-green pair (cut into on one side), both tied by light triangular obliterator, showing red crayon "2/4", London Paid transit c.d.s. (30.8) with, on reverse, despatch and British P.O. arrival datestamp (13.9); the envelope a little soiled. A rare and remarkable franking. Photo
