The Bechuanaland Border Police
This Imperial unit was formed at Barkly West in August 1885 under Col. Carrington as successors of Warren's force. Besides carrying out police dutied and assisting with Postal Services they also saw action in the 1893 Matabeleland War as part of the Shangani Patrol.

1886 (16 Feb.) envelope (small faults) ex the Crawford correspondence from Ireland to Vryburg, franked at the 8d. rate introduced on 1 January 1886 with 1881 1d. pair and 1883-84 6d. green sharing two Ballyshannon "55" dupex, showing handstruck "2d" in red deleted with blue crayon mark and, on reverse, Cape Town and Vryburg datestamps.
