VF30 | Ex Lingford & Willis | William III (1694-1702), Crown, 1696 OCTAVO, first laureate and draped bust right, reads GEI GRATIA in error, rev. crowned shields cruciform, seven strings to early harp, 29.57g, 12h (Bull 1000; ESC 91 [R5]; Lingford 415 = Willis 152 this coin; Spink 3470), an exemplary specimen of this bizarre and unusual error, almost very fine and very rare, with an excellent pedigree, in early NGC 'Tokyo' holder, graded VF30 (Cert. #2011260-101)
