Herbert Sprent served with the 7th (Kimberley) Regiment in the early stages of the First World War before transferring to the Cape Auxiliary Horse Transport Company during the early stages of the First World War. Having been promoted to Sergeant 14 April 1917 he served in France from 30 June 1917 and was commissioned 2nd Lieutenant on 27 May 1917 (London Gazette 3 June 1917). Sprent was discharged in 14 June 1918; sold together with copied research including MIC and disability information.
