The Establishment of the Post Office
1894 (26 June) An autograph letter signed by de Villard, sent from Shanghai to F. Gregson indicating that he was sending two parcels, "one containing the Chinkiang Date Stamp, the second containing the stamps: Stamps Cancelling chop, 'Registered', 'To Pay', and 'Paid'. I am informed by Mr Allen, the acting Local Post master here, that these are the necessary stamps, and he tells me at the same time that the following should be procured from England, cut in steel of brass, viz, Chinkiang date chop, Stamps Cancelling chop and Registered No. as the Rubber stamps do not last long...".

There are the usual folding creased. A fine and informative letter relating to the practical setting up of the Service
