Great Britain: Herne Bay Pier Co. Ltd., one share of £5, 189[1903], #2357, small format, black. This was the third pier to be built at Herne Bay, incorporated by Act of Parliament in 1890. It was built of iron and was the longest in England at 3,787 feet. IN 1904 the managing director, Henry Jones, was tried for embezzling funds of Holborn Council for use at the pier. He was sentenced to 5 years imprisonment and the company went into receivership. Bought by the council from the receiver in 1909. GVF.
