Examples of this rare mint have graced the collections of Lawrence [1903], Crowther [1904] and the infamous Colonel Durrant [1847]. However at the famous Shepherd dispersal [1885, lot 112] a parallel coin to the present offering was snapped up by Messrs Spink and Son for an impressive £4.17.6 despite only being described as 'fine'.
