P&O via Marseilles to Mauritius and Union Steamship Co. between Mauritius and Cape Town
1864 (26 Nov.) envelope (complete with contents, small imperfections) from London to Cape Town and carried on the inaugural service, only announced by the GPO on 16 November, on the Euxine from Marseilles to Alexandria , Norna from Suez to Mauritius and by Athens from Mauritius to Cape Town, franked at 1/4d.; and 1866 (16 Feb.) envelopes (2), one "By Marseilles" from Cape Town to Edinburgh franked at 1/4d., the second from Grahamstown to Bath initially marked as "Per Diamond Line", deleted and changed to "p Overland", franked 1/- with 4d.(3) twice cancelled "3", both carried on the Natal to Mauritius and on the Sultan from Mauritius to Suez, finally both from Alexandria with that to Edinburgh by the China and that to Bath by the Euzine.
