1859 (20 Jan.) entire letter from Port Elizabeth to Cape Town with a post script requesting that the letter be forwarded by the Athens but if missing this vessel "pr 1st. opportunity", the letter arriving in Cape Town on 22 January and missing the Athens probably forwarded by the Dane sailing on 21 February, initially bearing 4d. blue though the enclosures taking the total to over 1 ounce and therefore a pair of 4d. blue added when the letter was handed in at Port Elizabeth, all three stamps with clear to large margins (pair with a small corner crease) and neatly cancelled, despatch and arrival oval datestamps on reverse.
