1857 (30 Nov.) unstamped envelope from Cape Town to London carried by the Dane on the first Union homeward voyage, rated "1/-" and showing arrival datestamp (8.1) at top, despatch and Cape Packet Devonport (7.1) datestamps on reverse, and 1858 (2 Mar.) envelope from Cape Town to Scotland carried by the Bosphorus on the first and only return voyage in Union colours, bearing 6d. pale rose-lilac with clear to large margins on two sides and clearly cancelled and tied, despatch, Cape Packet Devonport (29.4) and Edinburgh (1.5) datestamps on reverse
