1896 (2 Nov.) printed form headed "Contract on Re-Engagement" between Kitchener and Captain Norman Edward Young extending his contract as Captain of the Royal Artillery. "Signed in duplicate at Cairo ... Herbert Kitchener Sirdar". Sold with initialled note written in response on letter from The Fine Art Society rendering Lord Kitchener an "a/c [account] for £25, instead of 30 guineas, the catalogue price of the small Chinese Shrine". Kitchener responds "I think this is expensive better be returned".
