King George VI (Prince Albert)
1915 (5 Sept.) ALS on P. & O. S. N. Co. S.S. headed paper with "China, Hospital Ship" in manuscript, writing to Captain Brown "I am sending you a photograph of myself which I hope you will like. It is in remembrance of the time I spent in the engineering department under you in the 'Collingwood'". Having been unwell, Albert writes "I have quite recovered again now and hope to return to the ship again very soon. It is very bad touch to be unwell at such a time as this and I think I have had my full share of it for one year. Hoping you will like the photograph". Signed "Albert". Together with the studio photograph of Albert as a naval cadet with pencilled in background, mounted on card signed "Albert / H.M.S. 'Collingwood'". Wonderful. Photo

Prince Albert spent several years aboard 'Collingwood' in his 20s during World War I and saw action at the Battle of Jutland 1916
