1800 (21 July) report from Lazare Carnot as Minister of War to Napoleon beginning with a note "The First Consul thought that Citizen Dulac's request ought to be dismissed, to invite General Morand to choose another officer. This business is Urgent. Carnot". Writing further that "The First Consul has confirmed on the 1st of this month, in the rank of Major, Citizen Dulac, who is intended, at the request of General Morand, to go and command the Artillery in Alexandria" continuing to point out that the said officer has only occupied minor roles such as General Staff and as Adjutant General with the rank of major as his only appointment to the higher role.
