Napoleonic Wars
Two ALS, one 1814 (31 Oct.) from Frances Herbert Nelson in Exmouth writing that she is "determined not to have Messrs Flight & Brooke's Axels I wish to know whether you have disposed of them". Signed "Frances H Nelson & Bronte" document on one page with sums on the reverse in different hand. Also 8 April (no year) from Horatio Nelson (3rd Earl) at Trafalgar to unnamed correspondent explaining that when he travels to London he will "bring up the Nile medal and the stars which the Admiral wore on his coat" to show "Mr. Maclise". Signed "Nelson" on reverse, document on single page of mourning letter paper.

Daniel Maclise painted 'The Death of Nelson' c.1859-64 which shows Nelson wearing his medals and decorations.
