1686 (24 July) letter signed "James R" to Richard Earl of Ranelagh ordering payment "out of Monies appointed for the Use of Our Guards Garrisons and Land Forces ... to pay to Our Right Trusty and Wellbeloved Councellor George Lord Dartmouth the Summe of two thousand and seventy pounds three shillings and ten pence the same being certified by you to be due to Our Royal Regiment of Fuziliers". Countersigned "William Blathwayt" and with receipt of payment on reverse signed "Tho: Rickers". Document repaired along folds and split between the two leaves. Sold with contemporary coin.
