1377 (reign of King Edward III) assize of novel disseisin written in Latin on parchment (2½ x 12 inches) beginning "Edward by the grace of God King of England and France and Lord of Ireland" appointing Henry Percehay and Walter Clopton to be Justices in a case of land possession at Evercreech, Somerset. Countersigned "Colyngb", likely Collingbourn, Chancery clerk responsible for issuing the writ. Sold with complete translation in English.

A Novel Disseisin [recent dispossession] was a vital form of land possession and repossession used during the middle ages. Documents of this kind from this period are rare. King Edward III had claimed the title of 'King of France' in 1340 after the outbreak of the Hundred Years' War, succeeding to the throne of England thirteen years later.
