George II (1727-1760), Half-Guinea, 1737, first younger laureate head left, rev. large crowned garnished shield, edge obliquely milled, 4.17g, 6h (Murdoch III, -; King -; Schneider II, 599/-; MCE 347; Spink 3681A), the odd scuff to rim otherwise the milling pronounced, a trace of flecking in lustrous fields and the recesses handsomely brilliant, good very fine, an excessively rare date grossly underappreciated in the standard catalogue with no parallel to be traced at global public auction this millennium
