Military General Service 1793-1814, 8 clasps, Badajoz, Salamanca, Vittoria, Pyrenees, Nivelle, Nive, Orthes, Toulouse (R. S. Ruddach, Lieut. 27th Foot), good very fine
Robert Stewart Ruddach was born in October 1794 and joined the 27th Foot as Ensign. He purchased his Lieutenantcy in January 1813 from Lieutenant Bakewell who had been wounded, for £150. Joining the 19th Light Dragoons in April 1814, he appears to have served at the Battle of Plattsburgh, for a Squadron from his unit was attached to the Allied Force, his papers also noting 'Served N. America [18]14'.
Ruddach died on 7 November 1860 at St Leonards-upon-Sea but appears to have been buried on Jersey.
