Royal Navy L.S. & G.C., G.V.R. (M.15954 A. A. Higgins. Ptr. 3. H.M.S. Delhi.), very fine

Arthur Augustus Higgins was born at Plymouth, Devon on 21 October 1888. He joined the Royal Navy in 1915 with the rank of Painter and on 4 March 1916 he was assigned to Iron Duke the flagship of Admiral Jellicoe. Later that year the Iron Duke served in the Battle of Jutland, the only major encounter between the British and German fleets during the war. The Iron Duke performed well during the battle however the caution of commanders on both sides coupled with miscommunication errors forced a disengagement and both fleets returned to port; sold with copied Service Record and related research.
