Two Imperial German trumpet banners: '… taken in Cameroons', 1915.
In woollen cloth, double-sided, with a fringe, measuring 470mm x 570mm and retaining their leather straps for attachment to their trumpets, the upper edges stiffened with a rod. The offside scarlet and embroidered in black and gold with the Imperial German eagle; the nearside light grey and embroidered in white with the Imperial cypher of Kaiser Wilhelm II, both sides having borders of twisted cord in red, white and black. One banner having, attached to it with a steel pin, a piece of paper bearing, in Dobell's hand, the ink inscription: German trumpet banners taken in Cameroons.
Slight surface moth damage but generally very good condition.
